Wide agricultural tyres
Prevent soil compaction
Wide agricultural tyres are more effective at preventing soil compaction because they generate less pressure per cm2 at the same air pressure. But the tyres you use will be determined by your crops, explains Enno: “During sowing, wide tyres are sometimes better suited than thin tyres. During row cropping, it is best to use thin tyres that run between the beds. This means tyres will not destroy the soil. If you opt for wide tyres, they must be mounted on the tractor as well as the tipping trailer, which tends to feature wide flotation tyres as standard.”
The same air pressure, high load bearing capacity
Because wide tyres have larger air chambers, they often offer a higher load bearing capacity. This means you can transport more at the same air pressure than with a thinner tyre, says Enno: “For example, it is possible to switch from a 70 series tyre to a 65 series tyre. When doing so, you normally want the tyre to have the same height. However, because the 65 series has a lower side wall, you can opt for a wider tyre. We offer conversion tables that can help you to make this choice. They show you the best option for your specific situation. Naturally, we are always ready to offer advice about the ideal width and about the conversion process.”
