TPMS mandatory for trailers as of July 2022
The EU's new Global Safety Regulation contains a distinctive change in relation to the previous version. Namely that, as of July 2022, it will also be mandatory for trailers and semi-trailers to feature a monitoring system for tyre pressure; the so-called TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems).
More stable tyre costs
New type approvals will be needed to use TPMS's as of 6 July 2022 and for new registrations as of 7 July 2024. Naturally, this will have an impact on how trailers are managed. Whereas tyre costs currently tend to fluctuate considerably, they are expected to become more stable as of 2022.
A draft document concerning the introduction of the new regulation is expected to appear at the end of 2021.
